Daniel and Charlotte Bogda to Assist Students and Store Alike with Instrument Selection
Daniel and Charlotte Bogda have joined PM Music as the new, resident string specialists. This husband and wife team, from Batavia, are renowned violinists in the Chicagoland area with more than 70 years of professional playing and teaching experience between them.
Daniel and Charlotte will assist students, and their families, in the purchase of string instruments and bows. Available in-store or at your school, they can help a player identify the appropriate instrument and bow based upon a thorough sound evaluation. The Bogdas will also be tasked with personally selecting the step-up instruments and bows for sale in PM Music’s String Room.
Daniel Bogda studied violin performance while at Depauw University, Greencastle, Indiana. After graduating, Dan played with the United States Army Band for many years. Based in Washington D.C. at the time, he played on stage at the White House for both President Nixon and Ford. He’s also played with local orchestras such as The New Philharmonic at College of Dupage, The Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra and The West Suburban Orchestra. Dan describes his most memorable playing experience as his tour through Egypt with the Army band; riding a camel to the great pyramids and playing for the President at the Great Plaza.
Charlotte Bogda recently retired after more than 30 years of teaching orchestra in several local school districts. She was most recently an orchestra director for Wheaton District 200. She plans to continue teaching privately for students ranging from three years to adults. Charlotte has also performed professionally with Franz Benteler’s “Royal Strings”, The Rockford Symphony Orchestra and was Concertmaster for the New Philharmonic at College of Dupage. She is currently Concertmaster of the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra. Charlotte has had many memorable teaching and performance experiences, but is waiting until she plays behind Paul McCartney before she lists just one as her favorite.
