Scott Johnston is an experienced guitar performer and instructor, and has been teaching guitar since 1989. He studied Classical Guitar Performance with Christopher Parkening, William Kanengiser, Scott Tennant and Raymond Mueller and at the University of Southern California. Scott has had performance and instructor experience at the Betty Haag Institute and served as classical guitar professor at the College of DuPage and Wheaton College. Scott teaches all styles of guitar, from classical to jazz to folk to metal, with classical guitar as a specialty. Dr Phillip Serna - Upright & Electric Bass

Holding Masters and Doctoral degrees from Northwestern University, PHILLIP W. SERNA is a double bass soloist, orchestral performer and chamber musician, serving on the faculties of Valparaiso University, North Central College and the OPUS Chamber Music Camp. Recently, Phillip has emerged among the nation's leading advocates of the viol - the viola da gamba. Co-founding the Chicago-area historical-performance ensembles Black Tulip, New Comma Baroque, the Spirit of Gambo and ViolMedium, he’s appeared across the United States and often can be heard on WFMT Chicago and on releases from Clarion, Cedille, and Varèse Sarabande Records. Phillip directs viol consorts at the Music Institute of Chicago, the J.S. Bach Academy of Music and is assistant director of Illinois' first public-school period-instrument program at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Phillip is the music director of Viols in Our Schools earning him Early Music America's 2010 Laurette Goldberg Award for Early Music outreach.

Brian Hasenjaeger

Brian Hasenjaeger - Electric & Acoustic Guitar

Brian has over 30 years of playing experience and 10 years of teaching experience. His approach to teaching guitar is a unique and inspiring way to further musical aspirations. Lessons are customized to help each student with his or her specific interests and goals. Brian works well with all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, and enjoys working with all ages. Being a stay at home dad for his daughters has given him valuable insight for teaching the youngest of beginners. Brian studied guitar with Troy Burzawa for three years, with Robert Baglione for two years, and took music theory classes at Joliet Junior College. He has also attended seminars and clinics by some of the world's foremost musicians, including Shawn Lane, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Andy Timmons, Paul Gilbert, Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson, and Robben Ford, as well as many others. In 1987, Brian was a finalist in Chicago's Best Guitarist contest, which led to him forming a band with recording artist John Hunter of The Hounds. More recently, he was the Naperville store champion in GC's 2010 "King of the Blues" contest. In addition to teaching and live performance, Brian's guitar work is featured on several recordings, such as Light Silver Automatic's CD, "The Electric Record". He is currently writing and recording a CD of his own.

Dave Benziger

Dave Benziger - Electric & Acoustic Guitar

Dave has been playing for nearly 30 years and teaching for over 20. He has solid foundations in rock, pop, funk, blues and R&B. He also teaches basic jazz and classical guitar. Dave has 23 years of experience as a working musician. He has worked with artists such as World Class Notice, Bert Cattoni, The Dustin Parker Band and more. He has played everything from local clubs, bars and restaurants, to Navy Pier, Taste of Chicago and hundreds of summerfests including an opening spot for Foreigner (in front of 4,500 people). He has written, produced, and recorded four solo albums and has contributed to many other albums throughout his career. Dave attended the American Conservatory for Music in Chicago for Jazz Guitar Combo (1 semester).

In August of 2009, the staff of Guitar Player Magazine selected Dave to be one of the Top 10 finalists in the magazine's "Guitar Superstar Competition 2009".

Kyunghwee Choi

Kyunghwee Choi - Guitar, Ukulele, Mandolin

Kyunghwee is a 20+ year veteran to music education. During his undergraduate program at Wheaton College, he studied classical guitar with renowned performer Muriel Anderson. While pursuing his Masters in Music composition from DePaul School of Music he studied under the distinguished American composer Dr. George Flynn. As a versatile musician and composer, Kyunghwee is able to provide the breadth and depth of a classically trained musician while still keeping the content fun and accessible. He is able to tailor each lesson to the students' desired musical goals and objectives, helping students find solutions to any challenges they might face.
