Chris Komos

Chris Komos

Chris is a versatile musician who has been performing for over 20 years. He got his first drumset at 13, and has never looked back since! He participated in band at Glenbard North High School, and eventually when on to College of DuPage to get his Associate's in Music. While there, he studied and performed in numerous ensembles, including jazz ensemble & percussion ensemble with Tom Tallman & Mike Folker.

After C.O.D., he transferred to Northern Illinois University. While at N.I.U., he studied music education with an emphasis in percussion with Greg Beyer, Robert, Chappell, & Mike Mixtacki. He has performed in numerous ensembles which include: Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Philharmonic, Steel Band, & Percussion Ensemble. He also made it an priority to practice all of the brass & woodwind instruments as well to become better equipped as a band director. Chris received his Bachelor's in Music Education in 2014.

Chris has been teaching music at public schools in the area. He taught general music & jazz ensemble at Troy Middle School in Plainfield, IL from 2014-16. While there, he started the "World Percussion Ensemble", which performed pieces on all types of percussion instruments from mallets to bucket drums!

Chris is currently the Band Director at Huntley Middle School in DeKalb, IL. He is a firm believer that if you put your mind to something & work for it, you can achieve it. Having fun in the process is important as well!!

Chris has performed with the Fox Valley Orchestra, Wheaton Municipal Band, DeKalb City Band, and numerous rock bands. He is currently the drummer for Splash Damage! He currently resides in Aurora with his fiance Crystal, and his dog, Zoey. When not performing or teaching music, he is an avid fan of video games, volleyball, the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, & White Sox!

Marc Rio - Percussion

Marc has been teaching drum lessons since 1978. He was a master class instructor at Musician's Institute in Los Angeles from 1986 to 1997 and created curriculum and seminars for Yamaha in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. Marc has been a Big Band judge and featured artist in Dallas, Texas. He has performed on recordings for singers/songwriters, radio jingles, album projects; performed live for television and radio; and with John Entwhistle (The Who) and Carl Schroeder (Sarah Vaughn). Marc graduated with honors from the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California.

 

Marc would like to offer you a free trial drum lesson to help you determine if drums are a good fit for you or your child. In addition, when you sign up for monthly lessons, he will also waive the fee for the first lesson.

Bill Zervos

Bill Zervos has been teaching percussion for more than a decade. He is a working member of both the Chicago Federation of Musicians and the vice president of The Percussion Organization of the Midwest. Bill segments his training into specific units, allowing students to tailor the instruction to their individual needs. These segments include Elementary Drum Method, Essential Studies for Snare, Xylophone & Marimba Method, Introduction to Drum Set, Elementary Rock & Roll Drumming, and Sight-Reading for Drummers.
