LESSONS
Louise Vargo has been teaching piano since 1997, sharing her deep love of music with students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Her own musical journey began at the age of seven, when she first discovered the piano and quickly found it to be a source of joy, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Over the years, she has cultivated a rich and diverse background in both performance and education, playing in jazz bands, accompanying vocalists and ensembles, and supporting students as they prepare for contests, recitals, and auditions. Her wide-ranging experience allows her to connect with students wherever they are on their musical path.
Louise earned her B.A. in Jazz Studies from Benedictine University, where she built a strong foundation in classical technique while developing a deep fluency in jazz theory, improvisation, and performance. This dual training enables her to teach a variety of styles and approaches from traditional repertoire and sight-reading to improvising over chord changes and playing by ear.
As a teacher, Louise is known for her warm, patient, and encouraging presence. She believes in creating a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel confident exploring new concepts and expressing themselves through music. Her lessons are thoughtfully structured to develop technical skills, musical understanding, and creativity, while also making room for fun, curiosity, and personal growth.
Based in the Chicagoland area, she offers both in-person and virtual lessons, always tailored to the individual goals, interests, and learning styles of her students. Whether you're just starting out or returning to the piano after time away, Louise is committed to helping you grow not just as a pianist, but as a lifelong lover of music.
Louise offers in-person and virtual piano lessons in Naperville and Aurora, with over 25 years of teaching experience and a degree in Jazz Studies from Benedictine University. Her personalized approach helps students of all ages build confidence, technique, and a lifelong love of music.
